There's nothing better than fresh popcorn, popped in oil. The microwave stuff is chemical waste in comparison. The best pot for popcorn is a 3 quart saucepan. The worst are aluminum and cast iron. It seems to be the rate at which the heat transfers from the pan to the kernels.
I sent the following email to MADD.
Re: http://www.madd.org/activism/0,1056,2049,00.html
I was perusing your site and noticed that you have not taken a position on President Bush, or his prior arrest for drunk driving, as well as his endangerment of his wife and friends, by driving drunk, into a ditch. The Bush family clearly abuses alcohol, and behaves as if it has no use for the rules and customs of responsible intoxication.
If MADD would come out an criticize the President, it would help the nation be more critical of his policies, which, in my opinion, seem like the decisions of a drunk.
As the leading national organization focusing on drunk driving, I think MADD is missing out on a great opportunity to highlight the dangers of not only drunk driving, but of drunks in general.
Dang, but it took me forever to learn CSS. Maybe I should have used a book. Here, I'm going to share with you the hard-found knowledge.
What is Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)? It's a way to separate the way a page looks from the the underlying XML, which roughly describes the structure of the document.
That's vague enough to say nothing at all! Here are some applications for CSS that describe how you might use CSS. Maybe this will clarify how CSS works, and be a starting point to understanding.
- You can alter the "look" of a site by changing only one file, called a style sheet.
- You can manage all the fonts and colors in one file, making it easier to have consistent colors across pages.
I was asked to describe carbon paper.
http://www.kevinlaurence.net/essays/cc.shtml
WOW. I must be old. Carbon paper was used in typewriters, to make copies. It's a thin sheet of paper with sticky black, sooty, carbon particles on one side, like a big sheet of typewriter ribbon. You sandwich it between two sheets of paper, and feed the stack through the typewriter. As you type, the letters strike the paper, and the pressure transfers carbon from the carbon paper onto the second sheet in back. This effectively created a duplicate of the first page.
Oh man, not again.
Not again! Jeezuz. This time, it's even worse. The Eritrieans were under Ethiopia's yoke from 1952 to 1993. They were an oppressed minority group within a nation created from an Italian colony. If there's anything worse than being a colony, it's being the people the colonists screw over. Just as an American Indian.

I have not left the house in almost 24 hours. All this time, I've been "working at home" on a few websites. For three days, my interactions with the world have been through the telephone or internet. This is the future of work? This is crazy.
