There are a lot of good recipes out there. This is a faker, because it uses fake fish. Here's the gist of it. First, defrost the fake fish filets. Then take a cup or more of flour, add to it a teaspoon of pepper, a teaspoon of garlic powder, and optionally, salt. The salt is optional because the fake fish is already pretty salty.
Take some of the flour mix and mix it with water to make a batter. Dip the fish in the batter, then into the dry flour mix, and let it sit in the dry mix a bit, so it'll develop a dough.
When it's dry to the touch, take it and fry it in a hot pan or wok full of oil. It's done when it's golden brown and crisp.
These are good on a sandwich. As unhealthy as it sounds, it's no worse than a fried chicken sandwich, which is common.
So that's the lazy style. There are more interesting dishes based around seitan "wheat meat".
I'm going to experiment with adding ground up onions, soy flour, garbanzo bean flour, and ground up tofu into the flour or batter mix. These things contain sugars that will make it brown differently.
