Mike Watt, punk pioneer, of the Minutemen, fIREHOSE, Madonnabees, Banyan, and a bunch of things I didn't catch, has a really good podcast show called The Watt From Pedro Show. From San Pedro.
Watt's a real local historian and said some stuff about the J-A community in the South Bay on the April 4, 2009 show. Just saying, to keep this ricey. Oh yeah, the guy is from Portsmouth like my daddy. The shows tend to be kind of long at 3 hours, but it's the only show of its kind with a mix of jazz, punk, the more avant-garde end of "indie rock", lots of underground stars from the 1980s. Looking at his hoot page, it looks like he's still playing all over town.
The show's holding strong for me. It's kind of like the Henry Rollins program on KCRW, but, I like it more. It's got more of the quirky Tom Nixon vibe.
