I bought a computer motherboard and it’s been crashing. Right now, I’m trying to figure out what’s wrong, by recording how long the computer is up before it crashes. I’m guessing that it’s bad RAM or a bad RAM slot. It’s been a few days of crashes, and I finally have some results. I said I’d post at 8 RAM configurations, but I went a bit over. When the system is stable, it just takes a lot longer to record crashes. So, thankfully, there have been stable configurations.
I bought a motherboard online, as a spare, and didn’t install it for months. What I found was that I had a crashing computer. So far, I’ve cleaned out the dust, and changed the thermal grease compound on the CPU. Despite these changes, the system is still crashing.

I bought a motherboard from Ebay, from wangrp, new – and I think it really was new – and finally installed it. It was a backup, but I didn’t test it, and should have. The board has been really crashy, and I cannot tell why. The return period is way over, so, I’m SOL, and probably out $50. Next time, I’ll just buy it from NewEgg.
